Who We Are

The Cardinal Insurance Agency is an independent agency that has operated since 1955, when it was founded by Kenneth G. Wheeler. The Agency was started in his home with his wife, Nora, as his secretary. The Agency was built on providing honest advice, and service. Together with simple word of mouth, and relationships with various community groups the agency grew.

In the spring of 1986, Ken’s oldest son, Kevin started to work at the Agency as an agent, and system coordinator, and eventually office manager. Prior to working in the family business, Kevin had been managing an agricultural trade show, Farm Progress Show. In his spare time he also taught flying lessons.
April 1, 1995, Kevin purchased the Agency to continue the family business, and had the Agency incorporated.

Kevin received his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1992, and is active in the Insurance Industry locally, as well as nationally. He has served on the Board of Directors and as Chairperson for the PIA of Indiana Education Committee. He has also served as Board of Director of AMS National Users Group. He has also chaired local user's groups, and has conducted various seminars on automation and insurance around the state and nationally.

In 1996, Kevin was selected by PIA of Indiana as the Agent of the Year for his dedication to his clients and to helping other agents.

In 1999, Kevin was elected as President of the AMS National Users Group.

Today, Cardinal Insurance focuses on service tailored to meet our customers needs. Either in our office; at a clients home or business; or on the internet. With state of the art automation and committment that the customer comes before the technology.
